It’s how you get around in the Bay Area. Well, parts of the bay. It doesn’t reach parts of the south bay, peninsula, or any of the north bay. For the south bay, you’ll need to connect from BART to Caltrain at Millbrae Station.

You should get a Clipper card to ride BART.

Unlike most subways, BART has dedicated spaces for bicycles.
Miscellaneous notes
-
The official website is bart.gov.
Handy links:
- bart.gov/tickets/calculator - Fare Calculator
- Fare Discounts (I should add the HVD one)
-
Real time departures for:
12th Street Oakland, Embarcadero, Powell, 16th Street Mission, Millbrae, Berkeley (Downtown), Ashby, Rockridge
- BARTable is a newsletter about BART-related events. Sometimes they also have sweepstakes for small things. Like, my partner won a $50 Clipper card that has a theme celebrating 50 years of BART.
- The phone number of BART Police is (510) 464-7000 (according to BART’s website). You can also text non-emergency at (510) 200-0992. I’ve never done either.
New gates that don’t show balance
I kinda think it's fucked up that you no longer see how much is on your Clipper card. And they also don't list the fares online. It's like they could charge you anything. Maybe I should get a Clipper card that is just cash-based so I actually get a sense of how often I need to refill it.
