  A Bay Area brand of beer. Their IPA is pretty good, as is their Brown Shugga’.

  Tried their Willitized Stout on 2023-03-10 at Buzzworks in SF. Pretty high ABV at 13%. Liked it.

• Fort Point

  I wanna say this is an SF brand of beer. My partner tried their Yuzu KSA Radler, which was pretty good.

• Pabst Blue Ribbon

  The first beer (or alcohol) I ever had was a PBR that I had for a Krav Maga “how to survive a bar fight” workshop. Of the options available, I chose the PBR I think because it was in the movie Blue Velvet.

• San Miguel

  A Filipino brand of beer. They have a bunch of different brands, but their strongest is “Red Horse”. Legend has it that special bottles marked with a reverse horse have higher alcohol than others. I don’t know if this is true, or just something my relatives told me.

• Dokkabier

  A Bay Area local beer that specializes in Korean flavors. They’ve got a kimchi sour, a bamboo shoot flavored beer, and a yuzu flavored beer. I tried this at Oktoberfest in Oakland in 2022, and they’re pretty good.

  You can find their beer at Sool in SF or H-mart (also in SF).

• Weihenstephaner

  Apparently the oldest continually operating brewery. Tried them first in Seoul, Korea in 2022, and liked them a lot. They also make a pretty good non-alcoholic beer which you can get from Cost Plus World Market.

• La Chouffe

  I only saw this when I started living in Shanghai around 2015, and I saw it all the time over there. It was served a lot at Le Café des Stagiaires. It’s a Belgian Blond Ale.

• Tsingtao

  A Chinese brand of relatively light beer, kind of like Heineken. You can drink a bunch of these.

Miscellaneous

• Russian River’s “Pliny the Younger”

  People line up for this. I tried it at Pi Bar in SF on 2023-02-05. It was pretty hoppy. Kind of just made me realize I don’t know how to describe beers.
