Indian Rock Park is a park in Berkeley (map) that’s got climbable rocks and a great view.

You’ll see a lot rock climbers/boulderers with crash pads here. Crash pads, for those that don’t know, are basically giant foam mats you can place beneath your climbing area to soften a fall.
You don’t need to climb to get to the top of the rock, though. There’s carved out stairs that lead to the top as well.



Me, and a bunch of folks whose faces I’ve censored to save them from the dystopia that is ubiquitous facial recognition. I will say that it’s a special occasion for the guy in the center. If you’re in this photo, and you don’t want to be censored, let me know; because right now it just looks like I have an ego problem (which—granted—I probably do, but that’s not why I censored these faces).
Oh, and there’s a pretty good view from the top. You can see SF in the back right and Oakland in the back left.
